Market & Competitive Intelligence Manager - Pittsburgh, PA

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Pittsburgh, PA

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Drive our Market Research and Competitive Intelligence efforts, assessing micro and macro industry trends that will have a direct impact on key strategic short-term and long-term decisions and business growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)
  1. Perform thorough, systematic analysis of key and related industry trends and macro forces.
  2. Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis of current/future markets and competitive and macro environments.
  3. Create and manage “an always on” repository of market and competitive research to support corporate initiatives, business unit strategies and the overall long-term corporate strategy.
  4. Provide market and competitive insights through presentations and reports to the Executive Leadership Team and various management teams to allow effective strategic and tactical decision-making and implementation.
  5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of data sources, evaluating their credibility and potential utility, and leveraging them across the company where appropriate.
  6. Manage the proactive collection, synthesis, and distribution of market and competitive research throughout the organization.
  7. Create and manage comprehensive industry, competitor and customer models including, but not limited to, market share, growth projections and trends, and market forces.
  8. Synthesize complex, extensive data sets and create compelling stories.
  9. Manage collaborative efforts with the analytics team, and strategy and insights teams.

  10. Technical:
  11. Ability to lead synthesis, distillation and advocacy of research insights in a way that inspires project teams to act.
  12. Manage the creation and ongoing use of consumer and employee panels.
  13. Develop and manage strategic research deliverables, focused on visually telling the story and identifying actionable insights.
  14. Constantly monitor the market and competitive intelligence realms to identify new and relevant techniques and tools.
  15. Develop relationships in professional market research to procure additional support for research functionality within Sheetz or through outside relationships as required.

REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

Education
  • BS/BA in Marketing, Business, or related field required
  • Master's degree/MBA or coursework in market research or business intelligence preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ of work experience in a market research analyst and/or market research manager position required
  • Experience managing market research end-to-end, from understanding research objectives, selecting the appropriate methodology, managing research vendors and sharing insights with stakeholders and executive team required
  • Experience performing advanced quantitative and qualitative data analysis of markets and competitors required
  • Experience distilling sets of data and communicating relevant and actionable stories required.
  • Successful use of strategic frameworks to assess internal and external environments required.
  • Ability to see the current and future business within a broader context and quickly synthesize implications and opportunities for the business required
  • Experience supporting strategy development/consulting experience strongly preferred.
  • Retail experience preferred.
