Innovation Analytics Manager

Location: Sheetz Corporate - PITTSBURGH, PA

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Sheetz’s vision is to put the Sheetz of today out of business, and this position will be a key expert participant in the company’s transformational innovation efforts through our Incubator program. The Innovation Incubator will add sustainable growth and profitability to Sheetz by transforming the market by 10x, through developing market-based opportunities to enhance or disrupt the needs of the convenience-demanding customer.

 

Analytics Innovator will contribute directly to the analytic development of concepts, providing the business intelligence required across the design phase and perspective of commercialization of each concept. This is a key role in the application of Human-Centered Design, which is the driving methodology used by the Incubator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

Innovation:

  1. Contribute to the execution of the Innovation strategy as established by the business.
  2. Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver expected results of the Incubator.
  3. Leverage technical expertise to contribute to concept development and execution.
  4. Actively participate in innovation processes on behalf of the Incubator and the company, including leading efforts to integrate technical expertise to the processes where appropriate. Work with departments and teams across the company to establish best practices around innovation processes, dependable concept hand-off and integrated project plans for utilizing expertise, information and functionality.
  5. Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the company to integrate innovation concepts into the business and ensure successful implementation and realization.
  6. Foster a culture of innovation and learning within the incubator and across the organization.
  7. Foster relationships outside of the company to introduce new avenues towards innovation development.

Technical:

  1. Formulate concept forecasts and projections in development of business cases to support concept development. Calculate Breakeven and ROI for new product (R&D) or proposed promotional activities on concepts under development.
  2. Recommend actions and strategies to Incubator team based on analysis and business intelligence. Design recurring reports for Incubator team.
  3. Implement software for data mining, business intelligence, customer relations and sales analysis.
  4. Facilitate product structure to ensure proper reporting and evaluate product performance based on space allocation, markets.
  5. Engage in collaborative sessions with other team members to integrate analytics into concept development processes and workflows.
  6. Constantly monitor the “analytics space” to identify new, relevant analytics trends, techniques, tools, etc.
  7. Develop relationships in professional analytics spaces to procure additional support for research functionality within Sheetz or through outside relationships as required.


REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Science, Economics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Business, Statistics, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in innovation, R&D, or product development preferred.
  • Experience with Design thinking methodology or other innovation frameworks preferred.
  • Statistics and Optimization skills required
  • Expert level skills in statistical programming (VBA and one or more of: R, Stata, SPSS) required
  • Working knowledge of programming languages (SQL, Python, Java) preferred
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, QlikView, Gephi) preferred
