Store Design Specialist - Hybrid

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Claysburg, PA



Prepare conceptual plans and complete sets of architectural drawings, coordinate with supporting engineering drawings for new stores, remodels and other store improvement projects. Act as the coordinator of the building design and technical drawings throughout the Store Development process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

  1. Complete architectural drawings for new ground-up construction and store remodels to include but not limited to floor plans, interior elevations, exterior elevations, sections, details, and FF&E.
  2. Coordinate with internal personnel and outside consultants as required to adjust and finalize building drawings to coincide with Sheetz brand architecture, construction standards, and project specific requirements.
  3. Investigate and account for applicable building codes, as a cursory review to comply with project specifics, to be considered by Project Supervisor for decisions with respect to code interpretation matters. This includes but not limited to Fire, Life Safety, Food/Health, ADA/ANSI, Energy, and OSHA.
  4. Prepare and coordinate preliminary and schematic drawings to be used by Real Estate, Engineering, Permitting, and developers for obtaining zoning, planning, land development approval, and other permits.
  5. Print, plot, scan, and bind drawings sets. Coordinate transmittal either digital or shipping to intended parties.
  6. Answer RFIs and provide clarification of drawings to the construction group during the bidding and construction. Prepare field orders if necessary for signature of Staff Architect or Store Design Manager.
  7. Maintain an up-to-date filing system of all building documents and drawings on the server network and ProjectMates.
  8. Prepare and / or provide support documentation as required for permitting and / or approvals (ie shop, testing data and calculations)
  9. Coordinate and review vendor shop drawings for design accuracy and project intent.

REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)


  • 2 year degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Building Technology required


  • 3 years fulltime experience as Architectural Designer, Job Captain, Project Lead, or equivalent required
  • 3 years fulltime experience using AutoCAD Architecture software to create building drawings required
  • Experience with maintaining accurate building plans & architectural drawings
  • Experience with building codes, materials, and building systems
  • Retail design and commercial architecture focus preferred
