Store Design Environment Supervisor

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Claysburg, PA

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Lead the design of our retail environments and reinforce our brand identity through interior, exterior & on-lot experiences. Innovate and create best-in-class design solutions utilizing customer research and design thinking methodologies. Work collaboratively with internal & external cross-functional teams supporting business goals. Promote a positive work environment while managing the Environment Designer I & II’s day to day performance and growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

  1. Define measureable, individual performance goals, monitor and communicate via regular feedback and annual performance reviews.
  2. Provide developmental opportunities for all direct reports.
  3. Lead the direct reports by assigning work, providing creative direction and ensuring consistency in execution of brand identity and brand environments.
  4. Monitor all aspects of design projects to ensure completion within timeline and budget.
  5. Lead the design of interior & exterior retail design projects. Includes but not be limited to:
    • Sketching, renderings, 2d & 3d visualization, product & digital displays, detailing, customer journey mapping, space planning, elevations, material selections, fixtures, millwork, signage, lighting & equipment development.
  6. Direct, manage and partner with external consultants for design projects. Responsible for quality control & assurance checks to ensure the design intent is brand right and executed on time and on budget.
  7. Lead and develop design intent documentation for architecture partners. Advocate for design integrity and accuracy throughout the lifecyle of the project, including DD/CD review, shop drawings and construction. Maintain design leadership through project execution through reviews of construction documentation and shop drawings.
  8. Partner with in-house stakeholders & coordinate project driving alignments with cross-functional partners. Partners include – Design teams, Sales & Marketing, Store Ops, Architecture & Engineering, Real Estate & Permitting, Procurement & Sourcing, Construction, & Project Management.
  9. Lead & develop presentations to convey design solutions for cross-functional team collaboration and executive leadership approvals.
  10. Support the design of corporate facilities projects. Partner with cross-functional teams and consultants driving excellence and Brand integrity.
  11. Define visual direction, visual positioning boards and apply knowledge of material use when specifying materials & finishes.
  12. Effectively plan, manage, balance, prioritize & execute upon multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  13. Organize work and maintain digital project folder, proactively locate information and seek answers needed to complete work.


REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Environment Design, Architecture or related field required

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in designing retail or hospitality environments required.
  • Minimum of 3 years knowledge of computer design software and hardware required.
  • Minimum of one year supervisor experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of retail interiors & exteriors, and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in innovative ways that elevate brand excellence required.
  • In-depth understanding of customer journey & how to execute solutions through this lens required.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional partners & key stakeholders including architects, marketing, store ops, real estate, category leads, procurement, vendors & construction teams required.
  • Experience presenting design concepts to peers, managers, clients, and executive leadership required.
  • Understands space planning, basic ADA, human ergonomics, and applies this basic understanding to design solutions designing in scale & proportion required.
  • Understands construction documents and implementation of design elements in CD sets required.
  • Understands vendor shop drawings and has experience reviewing, revising and approving required.
