SDS Assistant HR Manager - 2nd Shift

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Altoona, PA



Core Business Hours: 10am - 8pm



Assist the SDS Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) with general aspects of the HR Functions, including but not limited to: employee relations, talent acquisition, worker’s compensation, leave administration, benefits/compensation, and performance management for Sheetz Distribution Services (SDS) Operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

  1. Coordinate with the SDS HRBP to ensure compliance with all employment related laws and government regulations.
  2. Administer the recruitment program for all SDS Production and Transportation positions, accepting and tracking applications, applicant contact, interviewing and selection, follow up correspondence, pre-hire process (monitor the drug and background screening process, including DOT physicals for CDL and non CDL while assisting prospective candidates throughout the process), and new employee HR Onboarding.
  3. Coordinate employee medical leave, including proper documentation, accurate communication to Employee Relations and SDS Managers, as well as to employee on provisions of FMLA and STD and all employee benefits.
  4. Monitor worker's compensation claims, coordinate light duty work assignments, maintain records and accurately communicate work restrictions and appointment schedules with SDS Managers, Risk Management and Safety Department.
  5. Develop and maintain reports such as turnover reports, driver bonus, staffing updates, leave and restriction updates, incident tracking, etc. and distribute to appropriate individuals.
  6. Assist Sheetz Corporate departments and committees on employee recognition initiatives, as well as special employee events and fundraising activities for Sheetz Corporate Charities.
  7. Assist SDS HRBP and SDS Managers with investigating and addressing employee complaints, employee performance and attendance which may result in discipline while ensuring the fair and consistent administration of policies, procedures, and programs related to SDS employees. Facilitate progressive discipline discussions with SDS Managers. Document incident/discipline/investigation into HR Database.
  8. Support Operations by attending and participating in meetings, and to provide education, growth and development for leads
  9. Respond to and provide necessary documentation for Unemployment Compensation
  10. Complete exit interviews for voluntary terminations and distribute summary to appropriate managers

REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)


  • 4 year degree in Human Resources or related field required



  • 2 years related experience preferred



  • PHR or SPHR certifications are desired
