FSQA Facilities Manager

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Claysburg, PA

Level: 14 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Provide leadership and technical expertise in development and maintenance of SDS facility food safety plans, pre-requisite programs, and GFSI-benchmarked audit standard element programs through comprehensive development and continuous improvement of SDS Food Safety Management Systems and related programs. Ensure food safety plans, document control, and record retention meets the company’s needs and objectives for regulatory compliance and industry best practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

  1. Manage Food Safety Plan development, maintenance, annual review, reassessment, and implementation for SDS manufacturing and distribution facilities.
  2. Facilitate training, communications, and programs supporting the food safety culture of Sheetz Distribution Services.
  3. Provide technical support and review of process flow development and hazard analyses to account for new food products, new or adjusted production processes or equipment, food product or ingredient recipe changes, and other changes to programs or facility that may impact finished product food safety or quality.
  4. Work with FSQA Process Validation Manager to arrange and design validation studies to provide appropriate supporting data and documentation to ensure efficacy and validity of food safety (HACCP) plan controls and pre-requisite programs.
  5. Support workflows, projects, tasks, and meetings of SDS manufacturing and distribution facilities’ HACCP teams.
  6. Work with respective facility FSQA managers to develop, review, and implement food safety programs, policies, SOPs, work instructions, monitoring forms, and reports.
  7. Oversee development and facilitation of training needs and programs relating to food safety (HACCP) plan development, implementation, and ongoing continuous improvement.
  8. Assist in coordination of mock recalls and traceability studies to ensure and verify finished product and ingredient identification, labeling, and traceability meets the company’s targets, goals, and requirements.
  9. Provide guidance and support with respect to food safety (HACCP) plans and pre-requisite programs in new product development initiatives.
  10. Oversee monitoring effectiveness and accurate implementation of food safety (HACCP) plans, pre-requisite programs, control points, and critical control points at SDS manufacturing and distribution facilities.
  11. Serve as food safety program and documentation liaison between SDS manufacturing and distribution facilities to facilitate program/policy alignment and continuous improvement with respect to individual facility requirements.
  12. Facilitate continuous improvement as leader and coordinator of corporate FSQA inter-facility internal audit team.
  13. Analyze processes, identify trends and anomalies, and continuously evaluate facility programs for improvement.
  14. Coordinate and review corrective action and preventive action (CAPA) reports, investigations, root cause analyses, and appropriate system updates with respective facility FSQA managers.
  15. Manage coordination and alignment of systematic document control and records management programs and standards between FSQA and SDS Operations departments.
  16. Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, local regulations, and GFSI/SQF standards and disseminate knowledge to SDS teams as needed.
  17. Maintain a high degree of technical competence by reading appropriate scientific journals, attending relevant seminars/conferences, and staying current on food industry issues and trends.
  18. Effectively communicate with all Corporate and SDS Management teams to ensure accuracy of information and adherence to established food safety and regulatory programs.
  19. Assist SDS FSQA Managers and facility SQF Practitioners in preparation for regulatory and third-party inspections and audits.
  20. Lead a team of FSQA Facility Managers and maximize the development of internal talent through regular performance coaching, performance reviews and presenting developmental opportunities.


REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science or related field (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Safety, etc.) required

 

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years in food safety or related field experience required
  • Minimum 2 year in a food manufacturing environment required
  • Working knowledge of food safety plan development and document control processes.
  • GFSI/SQF experience preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory/leadership/management experience required

  • Food Defense Coordinator Certification
  • Advanced HACCP Certification
  • Seafood HACCP Certification
  • Implementing SQF Systems
  • Principles of Internal Auditing
  • Preventive Controls Qualified Individual Certification
  • Required Valid Driver’s License

 

Tools & Equipment

  • Hand tools (measuring devices, etc.)
  • Lab testing equipment (pH meter, Aw meter, moisture analyzer, microbiological analysis equipment)
