Claims and Litigation Manager

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Claysburg, PA



Oversee and manage the day to day operations of the Workers Compensation and General Liability Programs. Responsible for managing all litigation related to workers compensation and general liability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)
  1. Manage and maintain control of all Workers Compensation and General Liability litigation and costs by assuring claims are handled efficiently and cost effectively
  2. Manage claims handled by Third Party Administrators and medical professionals to minimize lost time and medical expenses.
  3. Periodically meet with Third Party Administrators to review claims and procedures and develop ongoing strategy for the efficient and cost effective handling of open claims.
  4. Oversee Workers’ Compensation and General Liability caseload to ensure early intervention, return to work planning (where applicable), coordination of quality medical care on claims involving disability and medical treatment.
  5. Analyze and evaluate all claims to identify trends and create trending reports for communication to Operations, SDS, CLI, SBK, Safety Manager and Senior Counsel.
  6. Responsible for collecting data and preparing Workers’ Compensation Audits (where applicable).
  7. Manage and analyze all litigated claims and develop a strategy to bring the case to an efficient and cost effective close.
  8. Act as a liaison between the Claims and Litigation Department and all stores, Corporate Departments, SDS, SBK and CLI to develop training when needed to achieve a safer work environment and reduce accidents.
  9. Consult with accountants, architects, construction workers, engineers, physicians, and lawyers in the evaluation of a claim, as needed. Create and implement panel provider listings. Meet with physicians to ensure best use of physicians for company.

REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

    2 year degree in related field required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in legal or insurance related field adjusting workers compensation and general liability claims required.
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience required
    Must pass and hold adjuster license in the states of PA, WV, VA, MD, NC and Ohio within 1 year of employment.
