Application Development Manager

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Claysburg, PA

 

Sheetz is looking for an Applications and Development Unit Manager to lead a team of programmers that will be supporting the core business operations including enterprise, supply chain, and point of sale applications. You will be responsible for assisting in making decisions that affect the Applications and Development team to include coaching, hiring talent, creating a culture of creative thinking, and executing deliverables and timelines.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

  1. Maximize the development of internal talent through regular performance coaching, performance reviews and presenting developmental opportunities.
  2. Align area objectives with the strategic goals of the Department. Develop Internal Communications strategy that supports business and brand strategy and manage proactive and reactive Internal Communication efforts, which may include the directing of outside agency
  3. Monitor annual budgets for assigned area of responsibility to maximize profitability.
  4. Provide leadership to direct and indirect reports by adhering to the Sheetz Applications and Development, Sheetz IT, and Sheetz Company Mission and Vision statements.
  5. Ensure compliance with the Sheetz adopted agile and secure coding development methodologies. Refer to the Sheetz Applications and Development Agile Methodology SOP.
  6. Ensure that all development teams are using the tools provided to coordinate the work efforts of all development teams this position is responsible for.
  7. Coach and mentor Applications and Development personnel on the Sheetz agile process.
  8. Collaborate closely with other IT disciplines to remain aligned on current projects. Fill in the gaps when directed for other IT disciplines when resources are not available from those disciplines.
  9. Responsible for time, quality and resource commitments made to the business and other IT disciplines.
  10. Provide evening and weekend “on call/issue” support as needed. Sheetz is open 24/7/365 and as such, our internal and external customers may require support at any time.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered. Two years of experience is equivalent to one year of college/trade school)

 

EDUCATION

•A four-year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a four year degree in another field of study which includes courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

•6 years of people management experience with at least 5 direct reports, including task assignment, performance coaching and reviews, hiring practices, and conflict management / resolution in a corporate or larger organization setting.

•Demonstrated experience in an advanced leadership role, including cross functional team leadership.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Experience with programming, logical analysis, and current development methodologies.

•Understanding of data structures and algorithms.

•Experience with Java, Python, C,  C++, or SQL

•Agile Scrum Master certification preferred.

•Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or similar certification preferred
