Senior Manager, Inclusion & Diversity

Location: Sheetz Corporate - Burlington, NC

 

This role qualifies for a partial remote work arrangement. Candidates must reside in or relocate to one of the states in our seven-state footprint in OH, MD, VA, NC, WV, MI and PA. As a key leader on the Human Resources team, this role will have regular in-person expectations for meetings with teammates, executives and Sheetz management in the field. 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Partner with Sheetz executives and senior leadership team to design and develop a comprehensive enterprise-wide inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility strategy aligned with business goals. Primarily responsible for the execution of our IDEA strategy through collaboration with and counsel to key stakeholders including executives, leaders, managers and HR leadership to ensure meaningful progress is achieved toward organizational IDEA goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (other duties may be assigned)

  1. Provides subject matter expertise and support to the IDEA Executive Leadership Council in the development of a comprehensive enterprise wide inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility strategy aligned with business goals.
    • Supports the CEO & EVP People & Culture with leadership of the IDEA Executive Leadership Council
  2. Primarily responsible for the execution of our IDEA strategy through collaboration with and counsel to key stakeholders including executives, leaders, managers and HR Leadership to ensure meaningful progress is achieved toward our organizational goals.
  3. Serves as a counselor to the organization, advising on systemic changes, messaging and strategies with the goal of driving employee engagement, increasing diversity, and enhancing the Sheetz culture consistent with our IDEA objectives.
  4. In collaboration with HR Senior Leadership, creates programs, policies and engagement efforts aligned with our IDEA strategy and goals. Promotes an environment of cultural competence through identification and implementation of culturally inclusive practices and innovations.
  5. Serves as subject matter expert and liaison to the business to develop action plans to attract, develop, and retain diverse talent by analyzing and presenting talent demographics, monitoring data trends and developing diversity initiatives.
  6. Collaborates with internal communications to communicate IDEA initiatives, events and progress regularly.
  7. Serves as a central resource relative to IDEA for all employees. Provides oversight and guidance to the organization’s employee resource groups.
  8. Oversees and analyzes organization’s data regarding diversity; develops and maintains metrics for measuring the effectiveness of corporate inclusion and diversity efforts. Prepares various diversity and inclusion reports for the IDEA Executive Leadership Council, Sheetz Executive Committee and the Sheetz Board of Directors.
  9. Benchmarks and conducts ongoing research, including monitoring and reporting, on diversity and inclusion topics on a national, regional and local level.
  10. Working in conjunction with key stakeholders, to include the IDEA Executive Council and Sheetz Brand department, identifies, builds, and sustains community partnerships to support corporate inclusion and diversity projects, plans, initiatives and strategies.
  11. Oversees, develops and coaches direct reports and I&D team to ensure effectiveness, goal attainment, collaboration, engagement and teamwork.
  12. Fiscally responsible for department budget.


REQUIREMENTS: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field required

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience overall in progressively greater levels of responsibility in organizational development, culture building, leadership development, talent management or a related domain required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a team, directing work, and coaching employees for success required
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience and results in D&I-related program development and execution required
