Our Culture

Our Culture

When founder Bob Sheetz started the company in 1952, he realized how important it was to bring his childhood values into the workplace. He knew that by sharing these values with our employees, he was helping to build a strong brand. A brand that our employees could be proud of, a brand our customers could trust.

Sheetz knows that our employees are our most valuable asset, and we don't hold back when it comes to investing in our people. We provide opportunities for advancement as evidenced by our extremely high percentage of internal promotions. We also take time to celebrate and recognize our achievements. Each year, hundreds of store managers and other employees travel to an exclusive location for our Year End Celebration. Past trips have taken us to Puerto Rico, Las Vegas, Miami, Nashville and even a cruise! During the three-day event, attendees learn financial results for the company, updates on corporate initiatives, and our outlook for the upcoming year. Our managers are also free to enjoy time to relax and sight-see while they are away.

The celebration and recognition isn't just for management! Sheetz celebrates tenure, and recipients are recognized in five-year milestones with a two-day stay at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania. All employees bring a guest of their choice and enjoy a wide variety of activities during their stay. Employees with more than 20 years of experience stay an extra two days, with all meals and drinks and resort activities included. Did we mention our employees receive paid days off to attend the event?

In addition to celebrating our hardworking employees, Sheetz has participated in countless events to help the community.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars are donated each year to Sheetz Family Charities and Special Olympics.

Sheetz Family Charities was started in 1992 as a way to help needy children celebrate Christmas by providing them with toys, clothes and other basic needs. Since then, thanks to our dedicated employees, the holiday has grown to include fundraising efforts by every store in the company. Sheetz employees use those funds to buy Christmas presents for local children. Since inception of the program, more than $13.5 million dollars has been raised For The Kidz!

Sheetz has also been involved in Special Olympics since 1991. We now serve as a sponsor of the summer games in Pennsylvania, Virginia and North Carolina. Sheetz employees volunteer their time to work at the games and help serve the thousands of lunches we donate.

We pride ourselves on recognizing our employees and helping our community!
